Our support for the Scottish Open – one of the European Tour’s premier events – enables us to showcase our brand to people in our markets around the world. It embodies our belief in powerful partnerships, using teamwork and expertise to get results, as well as supporting the local community where the event takes place.

About the Scottish Open

The abrdn Scottish Open is one of the four Rolex Series events, which are the most prestigious competitions on golf’s European Tour schedule. It provides a great test for players as they prepare for the Open the following week, and regularly attracts one of the strongest fields on the European Tour calendar.

As a global business with clients in 80 countries, the event is broadcast globally, and this international reach provides a great opportunity to bring our brand closer to our clients.

We’re in our tenth year of supporting the Scottish Open. Over the years, the tournament has seen an illustrious list of champions – such as Phil Mickelson, Justin Rose, Rickie Fowler and Alex Noren. The 2021 event, at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick, sees defending champion Aaron Rai joined by a field of some of the world’s best players, including Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa and Tyrrell Hatton.

Support that creates more for our communities

Away from the golf course, we take great pride in the positive impact that our support for the event can create for community, environmental and charitable initiatives. In 2021, we are:

  • Partnering with Leuchie House as our official charity, and raising money via our ‘Birdie Pledge’ – where we donate £5 for every ‘birdie’ shot and £10 for every ‘eagle’ that players make across all four tournament days.
  • Thanking key workers as part of the European Tour’s ‘Golf for Good’ initiative. Members have nominated key workers to recognise their work in the community, giving them the chance to play golf with one of the stars during the tournament’s official Pro-Am event.
  • Offsetting emissions from all player and caddy travel into an accredited carbon offsetting project in the Gola Rainforest in Sierra Leone, which is a project we support through our partnership with ClimateCare.
  • Improving children’s confidence and skills in numeracy through our ‘Making Maths Count’ initiative, in collaboration with Winning Scotland.
