The role of Operations in abrdn is to be at the heart of establishing and maintaining equilibrium in the firm. Through strategic and tactical operations activities, our function powers the investment management process and global distribution.

We also play a core role in facilitating the product development process and, in turn, we help to foster innovation. As well as carrying out a variety of activities in house, we work with trusted third parties to ensure we have a truly global, scalable and efficient operating platform.

We have around 1500 colleagues globally (predominantly in the UK and with sizeable hubs in Asia Pacific and North America). We ensure exposure to senior leaders to enable you to learn from the very best professionals, all of whom are passionate about your development.

We offer placements in a variety of Operations teams who support the Investment and Distribution teams including; Trade Operations, Valuation & Pricing, Client Reporting and Performance Analytics. They all provide quality in depth training, personal development and real-life work experience to kick start your career.

From day one, you’ll contribute to our ambitions whilst developing your skills and knowledge in the industry. Over the 10 week Summer internship you will be given real work with tangible outputs within the Operations stream, allowing you to gain exposure to real business situations, with real responsibility.

Regardless of which team you join within the Operations stream you will gain a depth of experience, getting the opportunity to work with seasoned professionals across our business and engage in development activities with your peers on the internship programme.

You will be based with the same team throughout the Summer internship placement.

On completion of your Summer internship you will be considered for a position on our 24 month rotational graduate programme. Details of the graduate programme are below.

The graduate programme

This programme gives graduates the chance to start their career in a highly supportive team environment, whilst gaining skills, experience along with support through further qualifications.

  • Duration: Two year graduate programme
  • Structure: Four placements lasting 6 six months
  • Development: Support to work towards a professional qualification, commonly IOC or IMC
  • Location: Edinburgh
