Mike Tumilty, our Chief Operating Officer, is to be appointed as a new non-executive director of Phoenix Group Holdings plc with effect from 1 September 2019.

The appointment is in accordance with the terms of our strategic partnership with Phoenix – under which we may nominate two non-executive directors to the Phoenix Board. Campbell Fleming, our Global Head of Distribution, also represents Standard Life Aberdeen on the Phoenix Board.

Mike replaces Barry O'Dwyer, who resigned from the Phoenix Group Holdings plc on 28 June 2019 following his departure from our company.

Commenting on the appointment, Mike said:

"I am very pleased to be joining the Phoenix Board. The opportunities we have through our strategic partnership are enormous; combining Phoenix’s strength as an administrator of insurance and long-term savings, and our expertise as a leading provider of investment management solutions.  We’ve put in place long-term arrangements that allow us to collaborate across a number of areas, and we have already started to see the benefits with additional assets secured from Phoenix.”
