We offer a range of funds for charitable investors with a focus on financial returns which also incorporate ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) outcomes.

ESG investing is a strategy that puts money to work with companies that strive to make the world a better place. Potential investments are screened against a set of standards to ensure that the fund only holds assets that meet those criteria.

The funds are only open to charitable investors, and the pooling of investment allows for greater diversification than could be achieved with a smaller amount of money, hence reducing risks

Explore the IFSL CAF ESG funds

There are three IFSL CAF ESG Funds with clear aims, investment policies and targets, to enable charitable investors to choose the most appropriate fund or funds for their needs based on risk and return appetite.

All funds are actively managed by LGT Wealth Management, this means that the investment manager decides which investments to buy or sell and when. They will have exposure to ESG focused investments through a broad range of asset classes and investments across different industries and geographical regions, however not all asset classes may be held at all times.

The aim of each fund is to increase the value of an investment over a minimum of 5 years through a combination of capital growth - which is profit on investments held, and income received by the Fund – which is money paid out of investments, such as dividends from shares and interest from bonds.

IFSL CAF ESG Cautious Fund

Estimated Income Range:
  2.0 – 3.0% per annum

Target return: CPI + 1.5% over rolling 5 year period

Comparator benchmark: ARC Balanced Asset ACI

Who we work with to provide this service

CFSL has a near 40-year experience in offering funds exclusively to charity and not-for-profit investors, so we know what to look for in the partners we select. When transitioning from our previous offer to our current funds, a key focus was on finding partners who shared both our commitment to the sector, and our desire to offer straightforward solutions that were underpinned by sophisticated and tried and tested investment management.

Following an in-depth selection process supported by expert consultants, we chose to work with IFS and the charity investment management team then working for abrdn, who have since been acquired by LGT Wealth Management.

About the investment manager

Not long after abrdn began managing the funds, their UK charity business was bought by LGT. LGT is a long-term investor that actively embraces investing in a sustainable way; two factors that CFSL believes fit well with the ethos of many charitable investors. We were also reassured that as part of the acquisiton the team CFSL worked with were transferring to LGT, bringing with them the investment strategies and long-term performance delivery that underpinned our original decision.

The team now at LGT has worked with CFSL and IFS to launch the IFSL CAF ESG Fund range and migrate investors to the new services. As the funds mature and build their performance track record, we look forward to providing competitive returns and growing the assets to the benefit of all investors.

About the fund administrator

IFS offer a great blend of in-depth expertise in the day-to-day management of investment funds as well as a commitment to supporting our vision for the CFSL investment solution. Their broad portfolio of partners of varying shapes and sizes showed an ability to adapt to specialist audiences and they shared our ambition to offer high-quality solutions at a competitive price.

Since 2020, CFSL and IFS have rationalised the previous fund range and launched the IFSL CAF ESG Funds. We continue to work together to build on this success and to offer investors the best possible combination of results and service.
