The value of investments can go down as well as up, and the investor could get back less than was paid in. Laws and tax rules may change in the future. Personal circumstances and where the investor lives in the UK will also have an impact on tax treatment.

Online new business

You can now submit new business online for products, with some exceptions where the transferring company require original forms with a wet signature (see detail below).

Step one – Upload copies of the electronically signed documents from our approved provider or scanned documents to the client’s document library on the platform. Please retain original copies with wet signatures, as we may need to review originals at a future date. Full instructions on how to upload documents are below.

For details on the documents where we will accept an e-signature please refer to our Wrap quick guide.

Step two – Once the document is uploaded please send an email to the relevant mailbox from the list below and include:

  • Name of document(s) uploaded to the client library
  • Client WP account number
  • Date and time of upload to the document library

Please don't email scanned copies of client documents as email is not a secure form of communication.

Please note some exceptions:

  • For any International Portfolio Bond applications we require Anti Money Laundering Verification (on step one of the new client process), Source of Wealth and Declaration of Residency (this document must be posted to us).
  • For Defined Benefit Transfers we require original documents and wet client signatures, please continue to send by post. However, in the event that you are sending the documentation less than 5 working days before the client’s guarantee date, by exception, we’ll initially accept the application to wrap_transfers@abrdn.com. The original documents and wet signature must follow by post.
  • For ISA and Personal Portfolio Transfers where the transferring company has not signed up to electronic transfers, e.g. some equity transfers and offshore funds.

You can now also submit new business using our approved electronic signature provider for many of our most frequently used documents

We’ve delivered the capability to support documents signed using approved e-signature solutions. At present the provider we are accepting e-signatures from is DocuSign.

There are currently two types of e-signatures which abrdn will accept:

  • Approved Electronic Signatures (AES), and
  • Qualified Electronic Signatures (QES)

This E-signatures – Wrap quick guide outlines the actions you need to take when submitting business with an e-signature and a list of applicable documents.

How to upload documents to the client document library

  1. In document library click "ADD"
  2. Select "OTHER" as document type
  3. Free text box will appear called "Document Name"
  4. Select the Status from the drop down menu
  5. Browse for file on your computer and select, following the rules below, and click save with one of the following file extensions: doc | docx | txt | xls | xlsx | pdf | jpg

Please note that the maximum file size is 4MB and the file name must be lower case and must not contain any symbols.

Having trouble with forms?

If you have an issue filling in the form, please save a copy to your computer before filling it in. Please also make sure your PDF Reader is up to date.

If you can't upload the form to the client's document library, please check:

  • The file name is all in lower case
  • The file name doesn't contain any symbols
  • The file size is less than 4MB

If this doesn't work we recommend printing the document and re-scanning it in black and white.

There is no guarantee that any email you send will be received or will not have been tampered with. You should not send personal details by email.
