Gerald Michael Ambrose @ Johari Ali Bin Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer

Gerald is the Chief Executive Officer of abrdn Islamic Malaysia Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Aberdeen Standard Islamic Investments (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd), Company No. 200801026015 (827342-W). He was previously the managing director of abrdn Malaysia Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Aberdeen Standard Investments (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd), Company No. 200501013266 (690313-D), which he joined in 2005, shortly after which he helped to set up the company after it was awarded the first foreign-owned fund manager licence under the government's Special Scheme. Before joining the company, Gerald was an institutional sales director covering ASEAN equities at Kim Eng Securities in Singapore, HSBC James Capel in London and BNP Paribas in London, the latter having sent him to set up the institutional broking operations of its associate, Mohaiyani Securities Sdn Bhd in Malaysia in 1990. Prior to that, Gerald served seven years as an officer in the Royal Navy, completing his commission in 1987 as a submarine navigator. Gerald Ambrose graduated with an MA (Honours) degree in Land Economy from Pembroke College, Cambridge University.

Nurain Lokman, Compliance Officer

Nurain joined abrdn in 2018 from RHB Bank Berhad where she was the Accounting Technical Officer attached to the Group Regulatory Reporting department. Prior to that, she was a Consultant at Deloitte Malaysia.

Nurain graduated with a Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) from Multimedia University Malaysia in 2015 and a member of Institute of Chartered Accounts in England and Wales (ICAEW).

Aaina Salim, Senior Client Operations Officer

Aaina joined abrdn in 2010 as an intern from the Islamic Capital Market Graduate Training Scheme (ICMGTS), a jointly programme developed by the Securities Commission (SC) and Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC). At the end of the internship programme, Aaina joined permanently as an Operations Officer, managing operations and fund administration. Aaina graduated with a Bachelor of Islamic Finance & Banking from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), and Diploma in Banking from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) .
