‘An opportunity and a challenge’ – abrdn hosts second annual APAC Sustainability Summit

29 May 2023

Last week, our APAC teams delivered our second Sustainability Summit in Singapore, welcoming over 70 clients to join several sessions with expert leaders covering multiple aspects of sustainable investing.

In line with the event, our Sustainability Insights team published three key papers:

Net Zero: identifying credible transition leaders in APAC

Forest loss: why Asia needs to play its part in a global problem

Climate Scenario Analysis 2022: drifting away from global climate goals

The Summit featured sessions from our CEO for Investments, Rene Buehlmann, Chief Investment Officer, Peter Branner, Chief Sustainability Officer, Amanda Young and many more of our sustainability leaders. They covered topics from the challenges and opportunities that sustainable investing presents, through to the regulatory environment around sustainability.

Chief Sustainability Officer, Amanda Young, said: “It’s been great to welcome so many clients for our second Sustainability Summit. By coming together to discuss so many different aspects of sustainable investing, we’ve been able to learn, connect and have honest conversations. APAC presents a huge opportunity for the sustainability agenda, and we’re looking forward to progressing across the region in this space.”

As sustainability continues to be a priority for all of our stakeholders, the event highlights our continued commitment to recognising and mitigating our impacts on communities and the planet.

The Sustainability Summit formed part of a wider Sustainability Week, which includes multiple colleague engagement initiatives. Over 50 Singapore colleagues came together to plant 100 trees – contributing to Singapore’s OneMillionTrees movement.
