abrdn Equity Income Trust held an online presentation on Tuesday 28 January. Chair Sarika Patel provided a brief introduction, reflecting on 2024, and noting that from an investor's perspective, the success of the Labour Party in the UK election last July and the re-election of Donald Trump in the US have helped eliminate some of the uncertainties that have weighed on the markets. However, the tone and some measures announced in the UK Budget, along with the potential for tariffs by the US, suggest that significant challenges remain in achieving higher growth rates.
