Iain Pyle

Senior Investment Director

Iain is a Senior Investment Director in the Developed Market Equities team at Aberdeen. In addition to being lead manager of Shires Income Trust, he manages UK and Global Income portfolios and the Future Minerals thematic fund. Iain joined the company in January 2015 from Sanford Bernstein where he was a Vice President covering the European Energy sector. He previously worked for PwC as a consultant. Iain graduated with a MEng degree in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London and with an MSc in Operational Research from Warwick Business School. He is a CFA charterholder and ACA.

Charles Luke

Senior Investment Director

Charles Luke is a Senior Investment Director on the UK and European equities team having joined the company in 2000. Charles started his career at Framlington Investment Management in 1998, covering UK equities.

Charles graduated with a BA in Economics and Japanese Studies from Leeds University and an MSc in Business and Economic History from the London School of Economics.

Robin Archibald

Chairman

Robin Archibald has a wide range of experience in advising and managing transactions in the UK closed-ended funds sector over his thirty five year career as a corporate financier including with Samuel Montagu, S G Warburg and Natwest Markets. He retired from Winterflood Investment Trusts in May 2014, where he was formerly Head of Corporate Finance and Broking. He is also non-executive Chairman of AEW UK REIT plc. He is a Chartered Accountant.

Jane Pearce

Non-Executive Director

Jane Pearce had an executive career as an Equity Analyst at leading investment banks and latterly was an Equity Strategist at Lehman Brothers and Nomura International. She is a Chartered Accountant and was a member of the Governing Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland from 1999-2000. She is a non-executive director of four UK subsidiaries of Morgan Stanley and is also a non-executive director of Polar Capital Technology Trust plc. She is Chair of the Audit Committee.

Helen Sinclair

Non-Executive Director

Helen Sinclair began her career in investment banking and spent nearly eight years at 3i plc focusing on management buy-outs and growth capital investments. She later co-founded Matrix Private Equity (which became Mobeus Equity Partners) in 2000 and subsequently became Managing Director of the company before moving to take on a number of non-executive director roles. She is also a non-executive director of Sherbourne Investors (Guernsey) C Limited and BlackRock Smaller Companies Trust plc and is Chairman of Octopus Future Generations VCT plc. She is the Senior Independent Director.

Simon White

Non-Executive Director

Simon White has a background in UK equity fund management and significant experience in the investment trust sector. He joined BlackRock as Head of Investment Trusts in 2011 where he was responsible for overseeing the company secretarial, sales and marketing and third-party administration services. He was also involved in successful fundraisings and significant secondary issuance within the investment trust business. He retired from BlackRock in June 2022. Prior to joining BlackRock, Simon White worked at Kleinwort Benson and was responsible for the development of Kleinwort Benson’s (and its successor companies including Allianz Global Investors) closed end fund businesses. He is currently a Senior Adviser to Cadarn Capital, an independent distribution and investor relations company servicing London-listed investment companies.
