On International Women's Day the achievements of women are being celebrated worldwide, in our communities, our industries, and also here at abrdn.
abrdn has steadily reduced its gender pay gap since 2018, demonstrating progress towards equality. However, the journey continues, and abrdn remains committed to data-driven actions that can deliver lasting impact.

We need to increase female representation and influence change within the industry.

abrdn CEO, Stephen Bird

In line with its gender action plan, abrdn has set ambitious 2025 gender representation objectives. You can read more information about the company’s gender action plan in this 2023 gender pay gap report.

In the run up to International Women’s Day, some of abrdn’s inspiring female colleagues have been sharing their experiences of driving positive change. Here's what they had to say:

In addition, as part of the International Women's Day celebrations, abrdn’s global teams participated in various events and activities led by Balance, the company’s dedicated gender diversity network:
  • UK: Colleagues participated in the Cycle for Smart Works fundraiser and hosted guests from Street League at our Edinburgh offices to speak about International Women's Day and the work they do to inspire inclusion.

  • US: Teams participated in the "Counting Her In Step Challenge", raising money for Evoluer House, a Philadelphia-based charity which helps young women of colour into further education and work.
  • Collaboration: We were also pleased to collaborate with our corporate partner, GAIN, as it held its first networking event in Scotland. GAIN helps young women enter the investment management industry, and we were delighted to see an impressive turnout at the event.
abrdn CEO, Stephen Bird, said:

"I would like to say thank you to all our female colleagues at abrdn. The dedication, expertise, and distinctive view of the world that they bring to abrdn every day plays a critical role in shaping our company now and for the future.

This year's theme, 'Invest in women: Accelerate progress', gives us the opportunity to acknowledge the journey we're on and the fact that we're not yet where we need to be. We need to increase female representation and influence change within the industry."
